The Cuyahoga County Agency of Inspector General's Mission is to promote honesty and accountability in County Government. To this end, we commit to you that if you report an allegation of wrongdoing to our Agency it will be fully investigated and when appropriate a referral for further governmental intervention or internal discipline will be made. It is no longer business as usual in Cuyahoga County. This is about a change in the way we do business. We owe it to ourselves, to the taxpayers and to the residents of the county to engage in business practices of the highest ethical standards.

The Cuyahoga County Code prohibits employees from participating in decisions involving a direct benefit to full family members such as employment, retention, appraisal, promotion, salary, and leave of absence. Employees are not permitted to take any part in the selection process where a full family member is an applicant. In addition, an individual may not be assigned or accept employment in a department where supervisory authority directly affecting that department is provided by a full family member of the individual.

County Code defines a Full Family Member as:
  • A Public Official or Employee’s spouse, household member, child, children, grandchildren, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, or first cousins;
  • A Public Official or Employee’s relative by marriage, lineal descent or adoption who receives, directly or indirectly, more than one-half of his or her support from the Public Official or Employee or from whom the Public Official or Employee receives, directly or indirectly, more than one-half of his or her support; and/or
  • An individual claimed by the Public Official or Employee or the Public Official or Employee’s spouse as a dependent under the United States Internal Revenue Code.

All employees are required to disclose full family members, all private business interests and associates involved with any matter before the County. All disclosures must be resubmitted if any of the reported information changes or any new relationships develop.

All County employees must submit a form even if no full family members or business associates work for Cuyahoga County.

For your convenience, the AIG has created the digital form below.  The submitted form will be forwarded to Human Resources as well as the AIG and you will receive a confirmation email after submission.

Please direct any inquiries to igregistration@cuyahogacounty.us or (216) 698-2101.
